This cut-away Mars Globe was 3D printed in nylon using MOLA (Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter) data at 6x vertical exaggeration to clarify detail, then hand-painted and mounted to its stand on ball bearings. We were commissioned by Jet Propulsion Laboratory to create this scale model to be used as an educational tool. We provided JPL with a padded rolling case to facilitate transporting the globe model with ease.
